Our MissionTo encourage and promote
a healthy and beautiful environment for the residents of the City of
Vestavia Hills through the proper care and planting of both native and
adopted trees. Our Accomplishments
Our RootsRecognizing the need to protect and promote its urban forest, the Vestavia Hills City Council authorized the creation of a tree commission in 1991, with the adoption of Ordinance 1224. The Tree Commission is composed of twelve members. The Mayor, an appointed member of the City Council, the Beautification Board Chairman and the Landscape and Architectural Board Chairman serve as ex-officio members. In addition, eight citizens are appointed by the mayor for staggered three-year terms. The newly formed Tree Commission met for the first time in March, 1992.
Recent EventsWe celebrated Arbor Day, 2004 by giving away dogwood saplings with help from Keep Vestavia Green at the Dogwood Dogs Parade.
How You Can HelpThe Vestavia Hills Tree Commission was formed to serve the community and to make Vestavia Hills a better place to live. Citizens are welcome to give suggestions, ask questions, and offer their own expertise. If you'd like to be considered for appointment to the tree commission, or just want more information, please write to us. Leafy Links
